My theory was they were going to try and open up reg before Patriot, to try and undercut them. Disappointingly it seems like Patriot reg is going a little slower than last year...

Wasn't someone mentioning a problem obtaining permits? I would think that holding back registration might lesson the amount of people who sign up. I'm thinking there is some snag that they haven't worked out yet. But I could be completely wrong.

Quassy and Patriot are usually 2-3 weeks apart, and I know a bunch of folks who have done them both in the same year, but I could see how a new IM branded race could eat into Patriot registration. Completely different courses, though in terms of difficulty.

I’m doing IM Norway at the end of June and was thinking that Quassy four weeks out would be a good tune up. Not many other options in the 4-6 week window before June 30th.

I signed up for Patriot yesterday. when I was thinking about next season, Quassy came to mind because its an hour from me, but didn't want to because Ive done the race (oly & half) 3x and I'd like a change. was briefly allured by the IM name but decided to go to patriot as it fits better for me and I will do something new. not sure they would undercut Patriot. Patriot is about $260 now and doubt IMCT would be lower. different race courses, quassy/CT is perfect training ground for placid and tremblant its got nearly 3x the elevation of patriot on the bike course.

maybe there is an issue with the permits. the locals were putting up a stink about it. time will tell.

Yeah the town had some residents petitioning to keep the race from getting a permit, but AFAIK it was only 20 people.

I'm in for Patriot. Quassy would have been the more appropriate lead up to IMLP for both course and timing. I was all about Quassy until it turned into IMCT, but that's because I have a serious hair across my ass about supporting local and independent races.

I did Patriot this year and I really enjoyed the race. It's a very different vibe compared to Ironman events but I liked it a lot. The route was very pretty! The reason I didn't sign up again for this race is because MT70.3 is the following week.

Website says AWA opens Mon, Oct 23; Tri Clubs open Wed, Oct 25 and General Opens Mon, Oct 30 - note that is what the website says even though the days and dates don't line up so not sure which one is accurate.

It's one of the perks of the AWA program. And yea, the email says priority opens October 23rd, general is October 30th. I stand corrected.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that everyone down in Tampa is working on Operation: Move IMFL to Haines City.

The general registration hasn't opened yet (Oct 30th, 11:52AM) and the first tier is already gone. Cool!

NYC and Boston are nearby, so it's no wonder they're selling quickly.
Not to mention CT also probably has some people with money.

I signed up as soon as general opened and got the tier 3 price. Perhaps it will end up selling out quickly?

The bike course was just posted (or recently)

Anyone take a look. Is it the same as in the past?

It's similar. The first 20 miles or so are pretty much the same as they've ever been. It looks like they're taking the same left turn we took during the descent this year (note: it's hilly as f*ck up in here). There's a new right hand turn to bring you back down further on 254. Then the out and back is only an "out" -- they're going to bring you onto a right hand turn onto East Shore Road. (This is probably going to piss the locals off significantly - East Shore Road was always the "back road" that got you around the course closures). The climb back into the center of town on 109 will not be fun. The descent is then the same, and then you come back on the old Olympic course on the other side of the lake.

Not going to lie - I think there's going to be some very, very pissed off locals with this set-up. Like, even more than normal.
