Really? You don't think losing 2.1lbs/week is a lot? Most folks here can't even lose 2 pounds per 3 months!
I guess I interpreted your "yikes!" as meaning something like..."that's too much", eg unhealthy in some way. If you didn't mean it that way...
Yes, 2+ lbs a week is "a lot". My personal experience is that it is on the upper end of sustainable for someone in the 15-30 %bf range. Its easier to sustain above 15%, and its easier to sustain as long as the workout regimen doesn't include much intensity. But, the close I get to "raceweight", or the more intensity I add to the program...the harder it gets to "not eat".
Getting started was hard. I really started at 207. It took a few months to really get on the program and work out how to "manage it". During that time I sort of slowly drifted from 207 down to the mid-190s. Honestly, once I got to 195 the plan was set and I was on a fixed trajectory. During the period from 195 to 160, it was no big deal---just kept it rolling day after day, week after week. Once I got on the "slope" keeping it going was easy. If you saw my loss-graph its a VERY straight line in that region. Once I got below 160 things began to taper off.
