Why thank you for asking Gary,

1986 Ironman Hawaii- 25 years old, no injuries, 143 pounds, 3 years triathlon racing: 12:24:36.

1997 Ironman Canada- 36 years old, LONG list of injuries and surgeries, 160 lbs., 14 yrs. racing: 10:42:??

I still secretly harbor the belief that, given the correct orientation of four months preparation, I could break 10 hours.

I am much faster at Ironman distance now than when I was a kid. When I was a kid I could run a 34:15 10K.

I can't do that anymore. It has been years since I broke 40:00.

Certain that picture isn't of later date ? Those pedals... If you look at cycling pictures of that period, road cyclers didn't clip their feet yet.

It was you I met on the moon in 1966 ?

What was your bike split [ In reply to ]

I rode a funny bike in 1986 IM and split out a pretty easy 5:20 ish. Had a 26 front with funny bars. I am not too sure I could do that at 52 years old now on any bike.
Was your bike split faster or slower then? Aloha G
