I'm jealous! Have a great race. --------------------------------------- Awww, Katy's not all THAT evil. Only slightly evil. In a good way. - JasoninHalifax
Make sure you get some pictures of the peacocks out on Sherman. Lots of people out there doing everything they can to make sure you know they are there for the race. The guy walking out of the toy store wearing his complete race kit was pretty good, but my favorite duo were the two guys cruising down the road with loaded bottle launchers in back, aero drink systems in front, and power gel already taped to the frame.
Have you been to Kona during IMH week? Its hilarious. --------------------------------------- Awww, Katy's not all THAT evil. Only slightly evil. In a good way. - JasoninHalifax
I was out for a run along the lake today (I'm a CdA local). There seemed to be three distinct groups out riding (oddly, virtually nobody was running...)
1 - Obvious out-of-town IM athletes cruising the course effortlessly at 20mph.
2 - Local posers mashing away at 16mph trying to look fast -- complete with Aero helmets, bottle launchers, etc.
3 - (This was the surprising one.) Tons more locals on mountain bikes and cruisers than usual for a midday thursday. It's as if seeing all the IM guys in town has finally inspired the sedentary masses to get off their sofas and exercise -- nice to see! Hey there Ms. Erin...congratulations on making it thru another season of IM training! Getting to the starting line injury-free is half the battle :) Hydrate Baby hydrate & have a great race! _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Michael in Fresno "Do you spend time with your family? Mike, you're killin me! I wish I were there. Do you think you can train this creaky old clyde one more time for next year? I've been throwing out the hints to my wife that cda next year would be a cool 50th birthday gift.
I joined the "local poser" ranks too today (sans aero helmet) -- if you see a tall skinny slow guy on a Black Titanflex, please don't laugh, just wave and say hi!
PS -- lots more runners today than yesterday. (Hmmmm...) "100% of the people who confuse correlation and causation end up dying."
always room for you. It looks like it is going to be a great day for the race. Cool water, light breeze and nice and warm for the run. Mike Plumb, TriPower MultiSports Professional Running, Cycling and Multisport Coaching, F.I.S.T. Certified http://www.tripower.org
Today was beautiful. We did the open water swim yesterday and this morning.
The STer's have met up a few times. I got to meet BeeHunter, Mike Plumb, Gleveq, a several friendly lurkers plus reunite with the Xantusia Chicks (Clm, Trailbait and Shelby.) Planning for next year's chicks weekend is in progress... Dan and Monty prepare yourselves. :-)
