Just out of curiosity... can I still register and log my runs on this website as well? I don't really like using Strava, so I'd have to file everything manually, but it might be fun to do so. If I'm caught being too late, shame on me of course! If I make it to the end of this challenge, I might 'officially' join next year!
Good luck to all you runners out there!
Yeah buddy, there should be a button to allow you to join the challenge. Just manually input all your data if not using Strava. It doesn't matter how far back you need to back date the activities. Welcome to the challenge and enjoy the gains!
Blue - Just out of curiosity I looked at your recent runs on the training log, and it looks like you are only getting a little under 100 cal/mi on your runs. Are you really light in weight??? The treadmills I use at the gym give me about 150 cal/mi at 180 lb, 6'2", and 7 % fat. Assuming a straight line graph,100 cal/mi would imply about 120 lb, and you appear to be getting around 98 cal/mi or roughly 117 lb weight. Are you that light or is this a case of diff treadmills giving diff cal/mi??? And if you are that light, how tall??? Just curious b/c of your incredible ability to crank out 130-140 mi/wk, with an avg of about 90 mi/wk over last 6 weeks.
My treadmill gives 95 cal/mile at 0% incline and 210 at 12% for someone 150 lbs. Extrapolating to 180 lbs that would be 114 at 0% and 252 at 12%.
I wish I could talk about 7% fat. I'm 5'4", 158 lb, and "I don't want to know" body fat. I HAVE broken through one set point, i.e. about 3 lbs, for my almost 500 miles of "slogging" at about 25 lbs over race weight, but at least I can blame 2 family birthdays + Thanksgiving, Christmas, and a 66-year old metabolism.
Blue: Fantastic job; helps me keep going during the times each day when I'm just not into it. (And do you also live in Maryland, or is it just your tag line?)
Tom H: I know you've passed through a lot; I hope you're on top of things soon and your holiday isn't entirely ruined.
mistressk: Phenomenal photos with great commentary. Allows me to "live it" without having to feel the cold parts of it. (I've had hypothermia in over 20 races.)
dev: Thanks for getting these things going. Your June 2021 challenge helped me drop from 167 to 155 and get off my mono-thematic focus on academia (+wife and 6 kids) and inspired me to get off my duff after almost 2 decades out of sport.
rcmioga: Wishing you a great recovery now that you're "bionic".
Eric (and Dr. Tigerchik): Hoping between your swim mileage and "Tiger's" Fish threads I'll be inspired to create a soggier version of myself, even though I think I'll tank the sales of any wetsuit I wear (when I can fit in one again.)
All right. Back to lurking.
