I guess you are right that the Republicans are that off their rockers they will actually think that is grounds for impeachment.

I don’t think they are this insidious, I think they are just idiots, but these sorts of actions undermine impeachment itself. Which will just allow the next Republican president to have even less checks on their power. Which is bad for the country.

The future looks very much like who ever has the numbers will impeach the other side's President.

That is not supported by evidence though. Only one side seems intent on impeaching with no reason. No evidence this is true for Democrats.

The GOP believe they have a reason and the beauty of the worlds silliest political systems is it doesn't matter just have the numbers and away you go.

You also get these SCOTUS appointees to tule in law, who don't need any ability in law and even when you discover they are closely linked to the insurrection, you seem to have no lever or will to remove them.

Is the bar simple a matter of numbers? If you have them you can impeach, who tests the reason?

There is no legal standard. It's just numbers. It's a political process, not a legal process. Though it involves "legal theatre" in terms of a "trial," etc.

No way the GOP will get 2/3 of Senators to convict, though.
