Nine years ago I went to Petsmart to buy dog food. I had 4 dogs and I knew it was going to cost me a pretty penny. As I walked into the store they had a little kennel with 5 adult dogs. Some were sleeping, some were jumping around, but one looked sickly and scared.
I picked up this tiny emaciated little Chihuahua and knew I had to take her home. She was so weak she could hardly walk, but she had the will to live and I had the perfect home for her. We named her Sophie.
It took a few months for her to become one of the pack and out on enough weight to even look like a dog. She became happy, loving and snuggly.
The years past and Sophie eventually grew into her own. Her loving snuggles turned into snarls and growls, but she still would give tiny kisses and loved to be held for hours at a time.
Last night I come home from work and she was having a seizure. Her tiny little body shook and she was so confused. As the seizure subsided, she started crying and was completely confused. We knew her time had come.
We drive love to the nearest 24 hour vet and they gave her a sedative to calm her down. In that moment she was the same tiny dog I picked up nine years ago. We knew it was her time.
With Sophie in my arms we went into a room and they gave her the shots that put her to sleep forever. My tiny 8lb Chihuahua was gone. Asleep forever.
Goodbye my baby girl!
