Gonna be honest, if I did as much over thinking as you seem to I'd either be really depressed, exhibit overt paranoia, and/or feel totally helpless.

And the fake news! Yes the news is fake, but there are a shitton of people on Twitter with connections, sources, and receipts. Three years of “mainstream media sucks, if only I were better informed.

This was supposed to the LR’s shining moment, but suddenly we are all too fatigued to lift a finger to click on baller level mafioso extortion stuff.

I was making no false inference. I'm just saying I'd drive myself crazy doing what you're doing. A level of detachment is necessary for me. I don't really care if anyone feels that's irresponsible.

The inference is that if you’d be crazy, then I am wrong or something similar. I’m not. If you’re not saying that then I apologize.

I’m saying that if good people like you tap out then collectively (and that’s a stretch because I’m not actually a long or even good contributor to this LR community) but that collectively we are all full of shit. Look, I get it. But If I post something, and it’s too much to handle, because you rightly are distancing mentally, then own it. Say what you mean. Don’t dismiss it with some lame “fake news” retort, and then bridge to therefore if it’s fake then he’s wrong, and then conclude if it’s wrong then therefore I’m safe with my head in the sand.

Ultimately, if my reading of the history of the ST Forum and the LR is right, it’s my interpretation that *this is what we were for*, the whole purpose of the LR in the first place.

So yeah, three years of arguing and trolling about “what should be according to me” or “what I would do if it were me”... it irks me. But I’m choosing to believe that it wasn’t all a waste of time, that there’s productive intellectual energy and property here and it’s worth something.

I’m sorry you’re feeling it right now. I am too. But just consider me a “prepper”... someone who instead of stockpiling food and guns made an escape plan and a bunker, I stockpiled the strength and the will and the weapons needed to survive in these times. This is largely because I stayed out of it for the last three years, so I’m rested.

Anyway my aim sucks, but I know once everybody catches their breath, somebody will point me in the right direction.

"More than half of a million hoarded personal protective equipment (PPE) are ready for distribution in New York and New Jersey.
The PPE shipment includes approximately 192,000 N95 respirator masks, a desperately sought-after commodity at the two locations considered to be the front line of the novel coronavirus.
The FBI discovered the supplies during an enforcement operation by the Department of Justice’s COVID-19 Hoarding and Price Gouging Task Force on March 30.
Officials did not say where the supplies were recovered from but said it alerted the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) which used its authority under the Defense Production Act to order that the supplies be immediately furnished to the United States.
HHS said it will pay the owner of the hoarded equipment pre-COVID-19 fair market value for the supplies.
Peter Navarro, DPA Policy Coordinator, and Assistant to the President said this is the first of many such investigations that are underway.
“Our FBI agents and other law enforcement agencies are tracking down every tip and lead they get and are devoting massive federal resources to this effort. All individuals and companies hoarding any of these critical supplies, or selling them at well above market prices, are hereby warned they should turn them over to local authorities or the federal government now or risk prompt seizure by the federal government,” Navarro said in a news release Thursday.

Anyone who learns of hoarding or price gouging of PPE should report it to the National Center for Disaster Fraud by dialing 1-866-720-5721 or emailing disaster@leo.gov.
Vendors interested in selling PPE to the federal government should contact the Federal Emergency Management Agency."

The simple fact is that the white house is complaining that the state's cannot get their own supplies, but the white house is also preventing these state from getting supplies. Can you explain how that makes sense?

Just a general comment.

The current system is a mess.

Hospitals want the product and are asking for mass quantities and certifications of quality (510K pre-market certifications) at the same time CDC is asking construction companies to provide industrial masks and gowns for hospitals. I had a friend - a nurse tell me that they were "ok" at the hospital on masks today because "Home Depot" made a delivery at the same time I'm on the phone with their hospital purchasing manager from the same hospital explaining how the import classification system for the FDA works for medical supplies.

Govenor's are saying they can't get product at the same time companies are offering to sell it to them at reasonable costs; but say they want to apply more pressure to get it for free from the federal government so that the state budgets don't blow up.

Before I designed and manufactured bikes; I was in the wholesale medical supply business for 20 years. We produced 50 40' containers of these products every month. We are now doing everything we can to help but I swear the back and forth and what you hear vs reality is crazy.

Just know that many normal people that have a fairly simple job of contracting for and ordering medical supplies in a normal environment are currently blinded like a dear in the headlights. They don't know what to believe or who to trust with respect to purchasing outside the normal channels and the TV news on all channels is a joke.

This part was good:

Hospital supply chain is a wreck right now. Normal channels of purchase are by and large closed and everybody is scrambling to obtain PPE and other necessaries via any means possible. I disagree that they are like a deer in the headlights. What I’ve seen is smart professional working their asses of to adapt to an unprecedented situation. It’s hard.

One of my wife’s direct reports is supply chain and she’s been working 15+ hour days for going on a month with 90% of that time devoted to getting and keeping what the clinical people need to do their job. And her supply chain director is great. Former army logistician, really knows his shit, but all the norms are out the window. A few weeks ago we took delivery of 2000 masks from Amazon at our home, because of some vagaries within the Amazon system she couldn’t buy them with the hospital’s account so she used ours. We’re going to be reimbursed eventually, and that’s not really a big deal one way or the other, but it’s nuts right now and I struggle to adequately explain that to people.

The part of a hospital that most folks see and experience rests upon a gigantic and complicated infrastructure. That infrastructure is enormously stressed right now and that should be scary because if it breaks patient care will as well.

The problem I see are the conflicting requirements and recommendations as well as the tremendous amount of vetting that the purchasers' are trying to do. They are getting all kinds of promises and quantities. And, outside of normal channels - everyone is a "new relationship".

I see it from the other side. There are 20 "new" companies all asking for the same China production just at our site in China. These people are quoting hospitals and then hoping for a purchase order and then hoping to get the product; but there is no way they are going to get the production. It's a shame and is making it harder for hospital purchasing managers.

I'm getting in 20,000 surgical masks from our first production run tomorrow air freight via Fed X. Our lead time is about 7 days from order to delivery here in Illinois via air. Those masks are already committed to a local hospital. If you have an entity that needs surgical masks in large quantity I'm happy to help. I can't deal with a lot of small orders - I'm just not set up for it - but I'm happy to help institutions or local municipalities. Our next run is for 40,000 masks and I hope to get them here a week from Monday.

China just set out new regulations for export April 1st which will slow down everything that was at a port of discharge ready to go. We got lucky and got the notice before shipment so our product left without issue - expect some further delays until the re-labeling and packaging can be done in China.

Fed X also changed the weight requirements per/carton exported from China with different requirements for 4 days service and 10 day air service - that just happened two days ago as well. So more issues pcs/carton to deal with.
