I met Kevin Bacon when he was filming Mystic River. 1st degree for me.

As we sat at the pool bar, at the Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort in St. Thomas USVI, almost exactly ten years ago today, a lone guitarist played some funky reggae. His shiny black guitar was plugged into a nicely sized professional rig, complete with a Midi synthesizer and drum machine. Play a background rhythm track, sample a bass line loop, and then tell the machine to play a steel drum instead of an electric guitar.

Fascinating.

At the break, as I studied his set-up with much interest, he told us that he had played in Isaac Hayes’s band a couple of years before, on a tour of Europe.

D’Wife drank Electric Lemonade while I created some flow charts on the back of a few paper Bass Ale coasters.

Isaac Hayes was a guest on Rockford Files with Jim Garner who played an aging astronaut in Space Cowboys with Donald Sutherland who was an English Professor in Animal House which introduced us to Kevin Bacon as Chip Diller, the prick Omega pledge [“Thank you, Sir. May I have another?!”], and ROTC enlistee who gets trampled in the riot after the parade.

Clint Eastwood was also in Space Cowboys. Tim Matheson, who played Otter in Animal House with Kevin Bacon, was Officer Phil Sweet in the Dirty Harry film Magnum Force.

Clint Eastwood also directed Mystic River, a mystery starring Kevin Bacon.

Tommy Lee Jones [Space Cowboys] and Donald Sutherland were both in JFK, as was Kevin Bacon. But then, so was .. . everybody.

I've met a general who has briefed both President Obama and Trump. Obama is a distant cousin of Kevin and a young Trump is pictured with Kevin.

Kevin Bacon was in Mystic River with Sean Penn. I worked on location last year for Sean Penn (director - Flag Day).

Really reaching here....walter cronkite was using the urinal next to me during the intermission of a broadway show. Cronkite did some voice over work and appeared in newsclips in the film Apollo 13- starring kevin bacon.

My Grandmother and Grandfather, but Grandmother was in the same grade, went to school with Neil Armstrong.

Neil Armstrong was the backup commander on Apollo 9 with Jim Lovell as the module pilot.

Lovell, who was the commander of Apollo 13 cameoed in the movie "Apollo 13", which Kevin stared in as Jack Swigert.

Found my Grandpa's obit, he graduated in 48, so Grandma would have been 45 or 46 as she was a couple years older than he was. You likely went to school with all my dad's cousins, as they would have been going through around that time. Oddly enough my great Grandmother taught high school math and english, but not at Wapak.

Had an old girlfriend who went to Albright College in PA. She was friends with the dudes who are credited with inventing the Kevin Bacon game (look it up).

I have met then. They met Kevin Bacon.

I want double points for 2 degrees from KB, and the game itself!

Stayed at the home of a guy whose son married Laura Linney who starred with Kevin Bacon in Mystic River.

(unfortunately, said guy, who is my father-in-law's cousin, is on a ventilator with COVID-19 in Chicago)
