Looks like Wurf will be joining Team Ineos for some road races. He has been officially added to the team roster on the UCI website: https://www.uci.org/...tails?memberId=57762

Quite the thing if he ends up in a grand tour...

Wow. I fear for the rest of the peloton having a triathlete in the mix.

Possibly linked with Vasil Kiryienka retiring today? And Wurf has been training with Ineos riders for a while, he has just recently done a training camp in California with Geraint Thomas and Ben Swift

It will be interesting to see what races he might enter.
Maybe Ineos is copying EF with an alternate race calendar and a few of their riders will enter Triathlons.

No, bud.... As a Kona “contender” Wurf has not ridden in either.

You're not quite understanding what I wrote, perhaps that's my fault for not articulating it properly (or whatever the written form of that is). I know Cam has ridden in GTs, just not during his time as a pro triathlete, maybe not even as an amateur triathlete? As far as I know, he hasn't put his Kona plans on hold for 2020, which would make it quite impressive if he did both a GT and show up at Kona ready to mix it up as he has the last couple of years.

Ineos was probably his backup plan for if his nikes got banned

He is by far the most interesting man in triathlon. One hell of a sporting background that's for sure

Dunno, but Geraint Thomas can swim, and has discussed doing triathlons.

I wonder if this means his commenting on fellow triathletes' IG posts will go down a level or two. I hope not.

I don't see how being a bottle carrier for Ineos helps him be a better triathlete, when he's in a few-years window before being officially way old to be an elite athlete.
Maybe just a PR stunt of some kind.

I think Cam is good mates with Froome and Thomas. Thomas was just here in San Diego and interviewed with Bob Babbitt and said he was going to do Ironmans after his cycling career. Maybe Ineos is incorporating some cross training into their cyclists. Would be cool to see how Froome and Thomas could compete at Kona

I was reading top down and understood what you wrote exactly:)
Doubt there will be a GT + Kona situation, but that'll be something!

Seems to make a lot of sense: Cam gets to continue doing what he wants with his existing coach and training partners, plus some extra cash and the fun of a few harder "training days" back in the world tour. Ineos get a pretty similar diesel to tow the peloton along to replace Kiry during the first half of the year with the advantage that he is a very known entity and already fits well into the team set-up.
