When installing Omega X (front) with standard back plate I found that a ferrule coming with Shimano 5mm road brake cable does NOT fit into the cable hanger opening/slot. The ferrule is 6.0mm outer diameter, while the opening/slot in Omega X is about 5.6mm diam. Do you know which ferrule fits Omega X? Is it Ok to skip the ferrule? Just in case -- the bike is 2015 Felt AR3 with 6800 mech, used for DL Tri and crits. Thanks!!

I think its 5mm. you can skip it but just watch for the housing to not last as long without it there. I would just inspect it occasionally without a ferrule.

I had the same problem recently. Try your local bike shop for a slightly smaller ferrel. Fortunately I had found one that was smaller on one of my other bikes and swapped them out.

I had a regular ferrule and just "pressed" it in with a pair of channel locks pliers. There is a split in the omega x brake that allows it to flex slightly and the ferrule is barely over sized. Its snug in there and would require needle nose pliers to pull out, but it works.

It can be set up without a ferrule, concerns about premature housing where are largely exaggerated. You will get many thousands of good miles of use from a single housing even without the ferrule.

Just put 2 Xs on my bike and was using Jagwire kit and the ferrules fit just fine. No squeezing or forcing necessary. Maybe they have a thinner wall?

I can probably buy just a set of their ferrules. Can you share which jagwire model you used? -- looks like they have several of them ... Thanks!!!

This one.Got it! Which of included end cups did you use with Omega X?

-- Lined Brake Alloy End Caps
-- POP Alloy End Caps
They probably all have the same OD anyway, but just in case... Thank you!!!

Vladi,
Sorry can't say. I can look later to see whether it is alloy or plastic.

It is the alloy.
iPhone pic is too large to upload.
Anyway, both brakes have the alloy ferrule.
