are magnets necessary to get all the data on the wahoo? pre-wahoo displaying the pioneer metrics i got the power balance w/o any magnets.
does turning the wahoo to ant+ change any info it gets from the phone (mine is set up to display texts)? sincerely, rick

Apologies, i should have been clearer in the OP. I am currently running the Pioneer dual leg setup transmitting to the the Wahoo Bolt (pre-partnership). I am interested in how to get the full flow of data to the Bolt.

Your Bolt needs to be updated to a firmware version starting with WB10. Wahoo had some problems with people going from WB09 to WB10 and pulled the update. Wahoo sent me a new Bolt (WB10) and I sent mine back. They'll probably fix their update process to make it work at some point but I don't know the time frame...
Once you have your updated Bolt you'll need to switch to the Pedaling Monitor mode and you'll see all the "cool" data.

Related question: these Pioneer PMs work with garmin devices, correct? I saw somewhere that they may provide more data to users of Pioneer or Wahoo head units, but I could leave with typical PM data.

This is basically where i am at.
I have dual sided Pioneer power and it was switched to ANT+ dual a while back.
I updated the wahoo firmware on my Bolt to WB09-2159 and it wouldn't show the Pioneer pedalling metrics because the cranks needed to be in Private ANT+.
The headunit wouldnt allow me to switch modes, so Wahoo sent me a new bolt with firmware WB10-2159
have yet to switch the cranks over to Private ANT+
