Actually one of the competitors was spot on with her decision to keep Donathon - stating he could be easily manipulated and an easy vote for them, so keep him around. Which makes sense.

I always wonder if some of the tribe swaps are spur of the moment producer calls as opposed to pre-planned. Producers obviously want to avoid one tribe getting totally wiped out, like that one season where a tribe lost every challenge and were down to two people before the merge. Did they see something with the Malolo tribe that worried them so much they thought they needed to stop the bleeding?

I think not only some of the swaps, but the timing of some of the challenges are adjusted as they go to take advantage of social situations, weather, things like that. After this many seasons, I would think they have a pretty good read on how to best time some of these things.
