Damn right! ;-)

It's one reason I'm going to drop that Coyote modular V8 into a '99-'04 Mustang GT. 435-hp out of the crate -- before any mods (the Aluminator can do even better with a supercharger) -- and great gas mileage, plus reliability those original Detroit V8 muscle engines could only dream of.

How about this one? 800 hp and 1800 ft-lbs, 0 to 60 in 1.79 sec, 1/4 mile in 9.89 @ 140.6.

I think you can do "muscle" with electric and there will be a market for it. I know I like to go fast, I don't really care how I get there. :-)

Now this is the kind of porn I like. ;-)

It's electric porn. That's the Zombie 222.

it was a bit tongue in cheek

i had not seen that but the video of the Viper fastest lap is an amazing piece of driving simply because it was clearly not the ideal car for a quick lap

Nice, and I like the rims, can't stand big rims on classic muscle cars.

I bought my first sports care when I graduated from college. It was a 1987 Mazda RX7 Turbo. It was one of the fastest production cars available, faster than a Corvette from 60-100. I think the 0-60 time was in the high sixes.

Today you can buy a Toyota Camry the goes 0-60 in about 6 seconds. I drive a WRX with a relatively meager 270 HP and find it to be a blast to drive. Less than 30k, AWD, close to 30 MPG and I can carry adults in the back seat. The golden age of sports cars is now.

Electric motors are really going to redefine what it is to go fast. Electric motors have a much quicker response. They can be controlled in the same way anti-lock brakes can, to operate at the limits of the tires.

In a few years, even the cheap electric cars may be able to accelerate with the fastest gas guzzlers.

People, mostly old dudes, will feel that way. Just like old dudes drive Harleys. There will be a market for it.

But it will be hilarious to watch some piece of junk electric car zoom past some fat old dude's muscle car.

Yes. Lowered and equipped with racing sway bars and two cross braces. Corners like it is on rails.

From the engineering standpoint, i’m impressed. 2.x to 60 will always blow me away

It's really not that impressive...it's called gearing :-) There used to be people around here that would run 1/8 miles rather than 1/4 miles. Huge gears and wheelie bars.

I’m just more of a fan of fast cars that can, say, go around a corner? ;)

I'm with you. I think it's far more impressive to have a car that can have a fast 0 to 60, 1/4 mile, high top end AND can go around a corner. It's fairly easy to do any one of those well. Doing them all well is a pretty significant challenge.

Slightly apropos: Cop in a po-po spec 500HP Charger chasing down a Euro-douche McClaren 720S. She hit 143MPH, and her voice sounds Ice Man-calm on the radio. No thang.

Yeah, cop rides nowadays have serious road capabilities and cops get better driver training. They do those PIT maneuvers and J-turns like it's no big deal. Back in my younger years, 143MPH in anything cop-ride-like would have scared the crap out of said cops. ;-)

Side note: I don't know why these speeders who run don't understand that cop cars come with cop radios, and cop radio waves will ALWAYS be faster than the cars they're speeding away in. LOL!
