I'm toying with the idea of doing a marathon in the beginning of 2006. It really helps my training consistency to have a goal race.
I live in NY and would travel to just about anywhere in the U.S. Here's what I'm wondering:
For those of you from cold climates that have done a winter marathon, how did you find the training? A lot of treadmill work, or were you able to get the runs in outside? I can handle the cold, but a lot of snow/ice will force me inside.
Any race suggestions? Disney sounds too crowded and expensive, and the course doesn't sound great. Miami gets rave reviews on marathonguide.com. Phoenix is a possibility...don't like having to find my way back to the start though.
Do you think I would need to do anything to prepare to go from training in 10-30 degree weather (and the treadmill) to a 65 degree race?
Thanks.
