On a related note (and an excuse to bump this thread), I attended a screening of "Emmanuel's Gift" last night and would encourage anyone out there to see it if you have the opportunity. I really feel honored to be just a small part of an organization like CAF that impacts the lives of so many people. Even if you can't see the film, take a couple minutes and read the article from SI below. Emmanuel is the real deal. This guy is as unselfish and genuine as they come.

Jim MacLaren (the inspiration for CAF's creation) said it best (and I'm paraphrasing here, so apoligies to Jim if I mangle his quote): "You shouldn't look at him (Emmanuel) and say, 'my god, I wouldn't want to be like him', you should look at him and say, 'my god, I wish I were more like him".

Thanks for the kind words JM3 and Gerard....I actually regret posting that I was paying for the caps to get them done and for my apparel / especially after I said I didn't want anyone to know.......duh!!!!! a moment of weakness.....lack of sleep.....you name it....

It sounds like I'm trying to be a martyr or something.....but then again, if it shames you all into buying more hats and gear etc then what the hell!!!!! ha!

Still, it stands.....I'm paying for my own stuff.....I will not accept freebies....well, Alan of Headsweats sent me some free caps as gifts for myself and my wife so.....well, that's different.....it was Christmas....I'm rambling....bump!

I don't wear hat's but...

I've been watching this whole thing unfold and was wondering sine we are giving the money to charity. Could we just donate 20$, for the purchase of a hat and have them give the hat to the charity?

I don't know much about the charity but if they are athletes I'm assuming some of them wear hats.

A thought anyway.

Hmmmm....

I said I'd donate 20$ for the purchase of the hat....but don't want the hat. IOW I'd buy the hat, they get teh charitable donation, Stephen gets rid of one ore hat and teh same charity gets a hat from which the donation is coming from.

Makes sense to me.
