Now that I've started taking longer rides, I've noticed I have A LOT of discomfort in my neck. This was never a problem, as I rarely rode for over 2 hours. Now with 2.5 hour rides most weekends, the soreness and stiffness in the neck has been a problem.
I purchased my road bike off of ebay before I knew a damn thing. I am quite certain it is a 56cm, Trek (I'm certain about the Trek part!!), and my guess is that it is a size too big. I did get it fitted a while back.
Aerobars are on them as well, and my long rides are both on the hoods and in aero. I do not tense up while on the hoods, and the arms are NOT locked.
QUESTIONS:
- Neck stiffness, even a week or so after...is this a normal/regular thing that happens with long rides?
- My guess is that I don't fit on the bike, but it hasn't been a problem with shorter rides. Do you agree?
- If neck soreness/stiffness is normal, what stretches do you do that are safe to relieve the discomfort?
And I'll be getting a P2K next week that is my size, so I am hoping all this will go away really soon.
Thanks for all the help.
