Bike Light Suggestions
As daylight fades I am looking to buy a light that will last and is brighter than my 100 lumen NR Sol. I get the feeling HIDs are on the way out. I need a bar mount, run time of at least 2 hours and if I am to land on my butt, be seen from space. The brighter the better. My budget is in the 3-500 range. What do you have that you would recommend? Thanks in advance.

I just did this for exactly the same reasons:

It took a while to get the stuff from Deal Extreme, but this set-up is nice. The light is brighter than the headlight on my motorcycle. Lasts about an hour, but then you just slide in another rechargeable battery. It really is pretty sweet.

X2 That is one sweet light. I bought one last year and cannot say enough good things about it. I get cyclists stopping me to ask what it is. I could probably sell them one on the spot for $500 and never tell them I got it for $36.

Car drivers hate it because I am brighter than they are. But hey, if they are mad at me, at least they could see me.

I rode for the very first time at night with a borrowed Light & Motion Arc during 24hours of Adrenalin this year and I was very satisfied with it.

I've been using a Cygolite MityCross 350 (350 lumens LED) for about a year now, and I've been very happy. It was in the $220 range when I purchased it, but I've seen them for less. The run time is ~3.5 hours, comes with a handlebar mount and a helmet mount.

dinotte 400L- very nice and does not weigh much at all. 400 lumens on high- runs 2.5 to 5 hours on high- depending upon what battery you use/buy- 2 cell versus 4 cell. great quality lights- i've been using them for the past 3 years.
