This is the most versatile travel bike you'll ever own. The frame breaks in two with the ingenious Ritchey design to fit in a suitcase with NO EXTRA AIRLINE FEES. This is the cyclocross version of the BreakAway so you can ride it as a road bike, race off road with 'cross tires, or put racks on and tour. Looks and rides just like a regular bike. Video available on Ritchey site to explain packing and unpacking.
What's included:
- Steel Ritchey BreakAway cyclocross frame with braze-ons for cantilever brakes and rack eyelets
- Carbon Ritchey cyclocross fork with fender/rack eyelets
- Ritchey headset
- Stem spacers in various heights
- Frame clamp for downtube join (seat tube holds together with seat post clamp)
- Cable splitters for easy coupling and decouping when packing making cable adjustment unnecessary
- Ritchey standard size suitcase with padding
- Will throw in set of Shimano road drop brake lever compatible cantilever brakes for extra $25.
- Seat post and saddle in picture NOT included.
Some notes about the bike:
- It is sized 56 cm (seat tube c-c) but this is cyclocross sizing so its a large 56 cm. If you normally ride 54 or 55 cm, this bike is probably going to be too big. If you normally ride 58 cm, you'll probably be fine. Top tube length 56 cm (c-c). Not sure your size? Check out the article on Colorado Cyclist on sizing: http://www.coloradocyclist.com/bikefit
- Fork is 1 1/8 treadless
- Bottom bracket shell is English (68 mm)
- Seat post is standard 27.2 mm
- No front derailleur braze-on so you are going to need a 28.5mm/1 1/8 in clamp
- I've fit tires as large as 38 mm 700c on this with no clearance problems
- I bought it new in 2008 to ride on vacations. I've ridden about 2000 miles on this frame including a triathlon and cyclocross race. I love it, but I have too many bikes. It has never been crashed, but there are some cosmetic scratches in the paint due to shifting in travel, TSA inspection, and generally getting ridden.
Pricing includes ground shipping and insurance to U.S. address. Payment by PayPal or cash price minus $50 for in-person pickup in Austin, TX.
