Condolences to his family.
My only interactions with him were here and on email, but he seemed like a great guy.
We've all lost today, but his family more than the rest of us.

I was completely floored when I found out about that last night. I admired Steve Larsen both as an athlete and a person and know that he will be terribly missed. My thoughts at his time are with his family and close friends. Last night I had a hard time falling asleep as I could see his image in my head with a big smile on his face.
Godspeed Steve Larsen

Shock is not the word! I remember talking with him at Kona in 2003. Very enthusiastic guy and willing to give his time. Wow ...

I can't even believe this...he wasn't even 40 yet I don't think. What an incredible loss. One of the really good guys in the sport who always gave back.

I'm just speechless. Worked with him years as an equipment sponsor and he was just the nicest, most down to earth, likable guy. Heartfelt condolences to his family.

My heart just sunk reading this. I'm mostly a lurker, but definitely impressed with his knowledge and temperament here. I probably can't even imagine how many this tragedy touches.

I've honestly read your post 5 times now. I traded emails with Steve yesterday morning. He was so happy and full of life. So giving of his knowledge and enthusiasm. And now he is gone. My condolences go out to his family, his kids and the triathlon community. One of our hero has gone to the great triathlon camp in the sky.
And now I an going to cry.

Boy this just sucks! I live in Bend and knew Steve since he moved here the first time, I’ve been on may group rides with him, not being a “friend” of his just one of the guys that rides in bend witch there is a ton of. he always remembered my name and would say hey when we would be at a race or passing in town.
I would always see him out running or riding the trails with one or more of his kids or up XC skiing and he would always say hey Dan., He was just that kind of guy.
The City of Bend and all of sports has just lost a super guy he will be missed!

This is terrible!!! I wonder if we could get some stickers made that said "larsen" and put them on our bikes much like other sports do when a fellow competitor dies. Maybe sell the stickers and give the proceeds to his family.
He will be missed

How sad. He was awesome.
