Dot's Pretzels - how come none of you told me about these things?
I was in South Dakota working, and a hostess at an AirBnb place provided a small bag as a snack. Those things are fantastic. I flew my wife up to join me in Montana and bought a bag. We brought enough home for the kids to try them. We just ordered three 2 pound bags from Amazon.

They have a Southwest flavor, but it isn't as good as their original. They are a bit expensive. I paid $15 for a two pound bag at a convenience store, but it lasted for a while.

If you see them in a store (they're popular out west) buy some, you'll be happy you did.

I had never had them until I went home to visit my parents in Utah over the past holiday season. My Dad works in South Dakota and brought them back. I could. not. stop. eating those damn things! I found them here in Oregon so I stock up. I agree, whoever's job it is to tell us about these things failed!

Agree southwest isn't as good, but still tasty.

These are for sale all over the place here, but I've held off on trying them because of the price, the gigantic bag, and a rebel spirit against products that are suddenly all the rage. Now I might just have to try them. My Covid 19lbs do not thank you.

Yes. Rapid City. I really enjoyed my short stay there and would have been glad to stay longer.

They have had a rough year. I was there for the second big hail storm they've had this year. Last week I checked a website that lists hail storm areas, and they had just been hit again with 2.5 inch hail. Many of the hail locations were in the same place as the first two storms.

They have some outstanding Indian/Nepalese food there too. Apparently a group of Indian/Nepalese doctors at the local hospital joined in and started a small restaurant. They branched off and now have two with good food. I live in a city that is probably three times larger and I don't think we have one decent Indian restaurant, and we're a big tourist destination.

I know. I saw the bag and expected them to be in the $5-8 range. When the cashier rang up the price, I was definitely shocked, but I didn't put them back on the shelf. We just ordered some more from Amazon.

We’ve eaten enough of them that they are opening a new distribution facility near our home in the Kansas City area. Very tasty!

Dang I forgot about Curry masala.

I went to college in Rapid. A buddy posted a picture of his smashed up windshield that still had the blue tape on it from the previous storm.

My in laws just moved back to the hills and my FIL said they went from the lowest hail hazard zone to the highest...

The hail around there is insane. One summer, I was working in Gillette, Wy and it seemed liked every day there was a severe weather warning for softball sized hail. Luckily nobody lives outside of town except cows and antelope.

I tried the Dot's pretzels, pretty good stuff or very moorish as my wife would say.

Now I'm doing a taste test of Snyder's Twisted seasoned pretzel sticks with onion, garlic and pepper. It's a bigger bag and cheaper than Dot's. The flavor is not quite as strong as Dot's but still good.

Dots originated in North Dakota about a half hour from my family farm. The southwest flavor is the best. Thy are about $5.00 in IL.

If you don't like them, you can wash the taste out of your mouth with Zima.

We got three bags in today at two pounds each. One is half-way finished. I'm pretty sure that Snyderman and I will be responsible for keeping this company afloat, even if nobody else does.

Let me know what you think. Of course, we may have built them up so much that they don't meet your expectations. If so, eat a handful of any other store bought pretzel stick and then eat some of these.

The artificial butter flavor is a huge turnoff since I hate it. If butter free would have been solid.

I found these today in Oklahoma. A small bag is $5 at one store; bigger bag $6.49 at a different store. They have original and the southwest flavor. I haven't opened them yet because I already have a bag of pretzels open.

I am in Colorado and need to go on a mission to find some. We set up a recurring order through Amazon, but that doesn't do me any good up here.

report: both flavors were good, but I haven't bought them again because I'm not a huge fan of garlicky stuff. I see they've expanded to chocolate-and-pretzel candy bars, which I haven't tried.

semi-relatedly, do others dip pretzels in sour cream, or is that a weird thing that I do?

PSA for those of you who like Dot's pretzels - I saw Dakota Style pretzels in the store the other day in salt and vinegar, dill pickle, jalapeno, and original and honey mustard, which are classics and don't count toward trends.

We have a local-to-Stillwater pretzel maker currently offering "cajun", dill pickle, and original seasoned.

Seasoned hard pretzels seem to be the new trendy thing.

I met the owner of a company that sells these on amazon. Not sure if it is an exclusive, but he sent me home with a bag of the southwest flavor. Tasty, but a little too spicy for me.

If you are in CO and really need a fix, our local King Soopers had both flavors on the shelf. I plan to try the original and maybe even put them in my next Chex mix batch.

I tried the Southwest flavor and agree with your assessment. I did find some in Colorado Springs at one of the grocery stores, but can't remember which one.

We have a regular shipment of 3 large bags every couple of months through Amazon.

Hopefully I haven't built them up so much that they are a disappointment to those trying them.

I wasn't disappointed. They were good. I have been buying them for xmas stocking-stuffer presents for my family.
The one thing of Dot's that I haven't tried and don't plan on trying is the chocolate bar - there's a "Dot's Pretzel Chocolate Pretzel" candy bar I saw in convenience stores here. Chocolate and regular pretzels are good but the garlicky seasoning and chocolate sounds highly unappealing to me.

Now there is a dots that's like a cheeto. I was grabbing a bag of the southwest ones and saw these. I thought they were cheese pretzels. They were delicious.

So it's a cornpuff? A cheese-flavored Dot's would be delicious.
