What movies are you watching during the COVID-19 crisis?

So preferably recommend ones included with Amazon Prime since that is the free moves I get.

But seriously, you can include others.

I watched the LOTR extended editions last weekend.

First Saturday of quarantine we watched Wayne’s World, which my 11 yo loved. Last Saturday we watched Joker and that didn’t go over as well.

HBO will start giving free tv/movies tomorrow.

I liked Alita Battle Angel, not sure if that will be included but the CGI in that was incredible.

Netflix has been my best friend. Watched a large variety of stuff but tonight am watching "I Saw the Light", the story of Hank Williams Sr.
I'm not a really big c/w fan, but am a huge lover of Hank Williams Sr. classic c/w songs. Patsy Kline is my other favorite classic c/w singer.

Not a movie, but season one and two of Tin Star are definitely worth it. They are on Prime.

+1

Great ride for most of the movie, but not a great ending. Bar fight scene holds up to repeated viewings.

Edit: all five seasons of The Wire will be available free on HBO. Highly recommended viewing.

I'm a little jealous of those of you who don't have to keep it kid safe during the daytime hours.

I really want to watch V for Vendetta (for like the 100th time)

We haven't watched much for movies. Have been binge watching Alton Brown stuff.

The last two DVD sets I was able to liberate from our local library before they closed down were Good Omens and Chernobyl. I've already watched the former and would recommend it (not great, but definitely fun). I haven't decided whether this is the worst time or the perfect time to tackle the latter, though.

Probably a trite recommendation, but I do plan to watch Groundhog Day. Something about being stuck in a cycle of rebirth until you get it right feels appealing right now.

I thought my kids (14, 12, 10) and I would watch a bunch of new movies, maybe ones that are funny and a little more mature. Nope.

My kids clearly tell me they do not want new movies or anything remotely inappropriate. They are regressing, apparently, in this scary world. So, we watched the 3 Despicable Me movies over the past 3 days.

Last night they played with matchbox cars. My daughter requested chalk. So, that’s the direction we’re going. Babyville.

As long as they sleep through the night, continue to use the toilet and feed themselves you'll be okay.

I get the regression - I've been watching "Murder She Wrote". Feels safe and comforting and everything always works out in the end.

Agree. It really feels sweet to revisit safe movies and play with old toys.

My daughter said she wants to watch the Lord of the Ring movies, so that will be our next undertaking.

Chernobyl is fantastic, but be advised that Ep. 4 is pretty rough watching.

I'm up to Season 3 of Narcos on Netflix. Haven't watched much for movies except for whatever's on during the day as background noise while I'm WFH - so far, A Few Good Men, Glory, Road House - stuff that I've seen so many times that I don't need to pay much attention, but can jump in anytime I need a mental break from whatever I'm half-ass doing on my computer. Planning to watch Knives Out and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood at some point.

Marriage story now that is a sad movie.

My son and I have been watching Fargo on netflix. It has that train wreck in progress quality that sucks you in.

They constantly try to escape from the darkness outside and within

This might sound a bit odd but, Contagion.

Watched it last week and it's crazy how reality mirrors this movie right now.

I though the TV series set in the Fargo world were just as good.

Atlanitcs also has a sad side to it, good story and unique soundtrack. But yes, I felt Marriage Story was too long until the last 25 min or so when it became very intense and sad at the end.

Didn't know it existed until this post. I might check it out, 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Sounds like you're in the minority for not liking it.

Anyone watched Miracle in Cell No. 7?
Netflix is showing the Turkish remake, but there are also the original (S. Korean) and one from the Philippines I think?

Browsing through Prime last night, decided to watch '71 - about a British soldier cut off from his unit in Belfast during the Troubles.

Really enjoyed it, looked it up later to figure out who one of the actors was and saw it has a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Never heard of it before.

I'll look for it. Last night I watched I am Legend - a virus movie where the cure was worse than the original problem.

1917 was great, highly recommend.

Knives out also worth a look.

Other than that we’re marathoning The Sopranos which we’ve been meaning to do for a couple years as neither of us had seen it.

Got the kids to watch some old ones this weekend.

Top Gun, Sixteen Candles, Hunt for Red October, Pretty in Pink (wife and I were disappointed that this wasn't as good a movie as we thought it was when we were kids, the music held up though, kids didn't make it through this one), Ferris.

Up next are Great Outdoors and Uncle Buck (seen by them plenty, but a favorite)
