This sketch has made me start researching how they ever caught any criminals prior to fingerprints and photos.

Have our sketch artists just gone to shit? When I watch Gunsmoke those sketches look like a photo the bad guy's mom would put in the family album. Now everybody is the Unabomber.

Couple years ago, I watched a documentary regarding observation. They did all these studies where they put a person in a room of people, then asked the person to describe one of the other people. Most descriptions were not even close. Then they put a person in a room with a single other person and did the same. Again, the descriptions were rarely even close. They also used human and computer sketch artists and they were massive fails. They even had people try to describe well known people (like actors, athletes, etc.) and they had a horrible time doing so.

Good post on the resemblance to guys everywhere. But how about this: guy-thug-who-threatened-stormy-daniels

Seems tRumps head of security bears a striking resemblance to the sketch. It also fits with examples of the tRump business model. Further, the tRump hotel in Vegas opened in 2008. Stormy says she was threatened in 2011 in Vegas. I'm sure Avenatti will be looking into it.

I recall her lawyer saying a few days ago that they have an idea who the person is. If so, the release of the sketch seems to be less about finding the person, and more about a) keeping the story in the news, and b) maybe putting pressure on the alleged harasser to cooperate with law enforcement.

Yeah releasing a sketch seems a bit silly if you think you know who it was, more than pointless from the perspective of finding the person.

It probably does have parts of her ex in it. And Tom Brady. And Dexter. And every other man she has ever seen. She would be trying to make a sketch of someone she saw once, 6 years ago. No way she could get the details straight.

Thinking about it. My mom died 10 years ago. If I had to make a sketch of her from memory without looking at a picture, I'm not sure i could do it.

The whole sketch thing is just stupid. The would have been much better off not doing that.

Our alien overlords are screwing up the Matrix lately. Too many of the story lines are just stupid and make no logical sense whatsoever.

I don't think I could tell someone how to make an accurate sketch of someone else even if I was working from a picture, let alone memory.

That's why it's not your job.

So she saw the dude? Of course you wouldn't have me do the drawing part, I'd be doing the describing part. If I did the drawing part this would be my mom.


Stormy still had to give the description and remember how this particular guy, who she saw one time 6 years ago, looked. And she had to remember just his face and not fill in missing memories with bits and peices of every other person she has seen in her life.

I agree it's not easy. And I think that's why the skill of the artist is not just their artistic abilities, but their ability to guide the witness through the process. I also agree it must be hard to remember 6 years later, so I'm not saying the results are necessarily that reliable.

Sketches aren't always terrible.
