I work at a private university and they are prohibited. Even campus police, such as they are, don't carry them. I'm not sure whether or not someone on campus (the head security person is a former head honcho with the state police, have no idea if he has a gun on campus or not). We have some sort of relationship with the city police that puts on armed officer on campus at times and/or readily available (I think).

That being said, there is one of my colleagues who I wouldn't be surprised to find carries one in her bag.

I'm gonna guess most employers have a "no guns" policy - too much potential liability. Mine does.

And that extends to the parking lot, too.

I talked to a couple people who, when they have firearms in their vehicles, just park in the lot of the business next door.

Federal civilian agency. Bring a gun and you would likely be terminated, though not by a gun.

Pretty sure I remember reading in the endless volumes of training and policy docs I received that guns (and all weapons) are prohibited.

At one job, you can't have any weapon at work, on company property, at an off-site company function, in your car on company property or play paintball, archery or gun range as a company activity.

At the other job we have weapons hanging on the wall.

I work on a military installation, and private firearms are pretty much prohibited from all workplaces inside the gate.

Prohibited in my current office building, which we rent space in and has dozens of other tenants. Previous employer prohibited them in company buildings, but you could have them properly secured in vehicles in the company parking lot.

No clue, but I'l take a flyer and guess guns are a no-go. I work in the IT O&S world.

Just looked it up. No guns on company property. There are exceptions for a couple of states (OK and TX) that have passed laws allowing guns in locked vehicles regardless of company policy.

IN is like that also.

Same with the Army (when I was in), which always surprised me. My experience has been that most police departments permit the carry of a personal firearm as a backup sidearm. I have always been a little surprised the military does not permit the same.

There was talk of permitting this after the recruiting station shooting a couple years ago, but it appears nothing happened.

What about private guns?

Genuine question because my dad was an FBI agent and he always had 2-3 private holdout pieces (I'm barely exaggerating) which I'm pretty sure he brought into the office.

I did not know that. So was mine. Nearly 30 years. He went out when he hit mandatory retirement.

I think about 25 years for my dad. But he took early retirement because he was pretty miserable at the end. He had a high-profile position in foreign counter-intelligence. But then he did something (not sure what), and they moved him to civil rights, which my dad being pretty much a racist, despised the civil rights division (and the FBI knew that, which is why they put him there to get rid of him).

I have very fond memories of working two summers out of the San Francisco office as a high schooler. I got to do things probably impossible today, like dress up like a tourist and go on surveillances. I got to use basic tradecraft like how to take pictures of someone without looking like you're taking pictures of them. And how when you see an FBI agent in public, to pretend like you don't know recognize them until they signal it's OK. Super fun for a high school student. All the fun, none of the responsibility.

Our company does not allow firearms. This in the SE where firearms are pretty common. Mrs RG, a labor lawyer, was probably the one that wrote the company handbook, 10-15yrs ago.

CFO used to call me into his office once/twice per year to show the latest firearm he'd bought.

I am a public high school teacher and carry daily. Our state law states that as long as you have a concealed carry permit, you are allowed to carry in public buildings...even in a school. District policy is that it has to be on your person, not in a desk or cabinet.

I have 9 guns at work I use most days. In fact, it would be near impossible to do my job without them....




....they're pneumatic nail guns, but, still count, right?

Be kind English is my 2nd language. My primary language is Dave it's a unique evolution of English.

Two serious questions.

How do you dress for school? I'm a public school teacher, and these days none of us (men or women) wear clothes to school that would allow anything but maybe the smallest handgun to be concealed.

Does anyone (district superintendent, principal, local law enforcement, etc.) know that you carry daily while you're in school? Many (most?) of the students and parents I deal with would have some issues with this.

I work in a couple of different schools, so no guns allowed.. period. I am probably the only one in these buildings with the training to possibly stop an armed intruder, but if I get caught with a gun on campus, it is a minimum of 2 (and up to 5) years in prison. So they aren't getting that option from meeee.

Only issued weapons or personal weapons on the approved list, which is a very short list of Glock variants like a Glock 27 for example.

I work in an industrial facility where we come through metal detectors every day before being admitted to our work station. No guns are allowed beyond that point or on the property, unless you count the armed guards that patrol 24 hours a day.

Lol! Wasn’t gonna post until I read yours , hell I have a gun in my hand every minute of every day wile at work.
A pressure washing gun. A big one too. With the right tip I can saw someone in half pretty quick.
That being said , I do work some commercial jobs over night and have been assaulted a half dozen times in the past few years . I’m thinking of getting my ccp and packing heat at least for those jobs.
