Actually, Cheney would do the race for Bush since he actually is the one doing things. And he'd die of a fart attack right after the swim (wearing his speedos with his gut hanging over).

Bush ride a Trek mountain bike. Kerry has an exotic Italian road bike with expensive (for me not for him ) Mavic Cosmos wheels. I think he will smoke Bush on the bike. Having said that, both have a history of falling over their bikes, they will both have a DNF.

Bush lived in Austin, so does Lance, Bush would beat Kerry on the run, Kerry would be too busy protesting the officials after he cut corners on the bike course and told everyone he was a hero. Of course if Kerry won he wouldnt appreciate it and would throw his medal in the water. Ha Ha..

Has Kerry done a marathon? I know Bush did sub 4hrs.

It makes sense for a candidate to be photographed with an American product and yes you are right - Serotta is an American bike.

Just to clarify: Kerry has been riding Serotta for longer than he has been a candidate for President.

Their respective handlers would not let either of them get near the water. With wet hair and less than flattering swim attire they would be scared to death of the pictures. It would probably turn out like a debate with arcane and arbitrary rules. No time would be kept. They would not race at the same time. It would be so soul-suckingly boring that no one could watch the whole thing. Afterwards the spin doctors would blather on how their guy won.

Priceless....the picture of Cheney standing in the water as he had a "fart attack" (freudian slip on your part?) with little bubbles popping up all around him..hahaha :) no one would want to stand anywhere near him :)

Point taken.

I have not been following him or his bike choices prior to last year. I read an article a few months ago (in Newsweek) about his bicycle and the fact that he is drafting behind Bush who was struggling at the time of the article (due to some problems in the Middle East). The reporter was using the drafting metaphor to suggest the Bush does the work for Kerry. Naturally, a photograph of Kerry and his American red bike was shown.

it'd take too long to explain to bush that the correct pronunciation is "tri-ath-lon" not "tri-ath-a-lon" that he'd never actually start the race.

While we're nitpicking on the bike thing, Kerry's new Serotta (an Ottrot) is orange. His previous bike was also a Serotta (Colorado III, I believe). Not sure what color that one was, that may have been the red one.

I thought he was riding Mavic Ksyrium wheels (Ksyrium SSR, or whatever the top of the line version is). Dura Ace components.

I saw a fun T-shirt regardless of the election.

On the front it read:

Beat Bush in 2004

On the back it read:

George Bush's marathon time: Houston Marathon 1984 (Not sure about the year): 3:43:24 (not sure about the exact time)

Say what you want, the guy could run at some point.

You lost me on this one. I'm not exactly sure what you are so proud of. You do realize that John Heinz (Theresa Heinz-Kerry's late ex-husband, from whom she acquired the Heinz name) was a Republican senator from Pennsylvania, right?

Pluto and JohnA,

The expensive Italian road bike/exotic American road bike was made in Saratoga Springs, New York (some distance west of Rome) by a company named Serotta Competition Bicycles. A Legend Ti, I believe.

I have read that he has difficulty staying upright on it.

For Bush's sake I hope they don't serve pretzels at any aid stations, if he can't handle one sitting down watching TV he wouldn't be able to handle eating on the bike or run.

That's about the same level of maturity as voting to rename "French Fries" to "Freedom Fries"

And "din yinz" know that Hienz Field is the name of the Football field that "dem der Stillers" play in. And that Hienz headquarters in in Pittsburgh. Trust me there are plenty of redneck, NRA card toting republicans in da 'burgh. Besides i didn't realize anyone made condements other than Hienz? As far as i can taste everything else is just a bland paste colored red and yellow.
