BTW, what's up with struggling to bench 135. I mean, a year of IM training has left me a 'girly man' by the meathead standards, but I am pretty confident even with my forgoeing the beach muscle's in my training I could still put up 135 without a struggle.

You know, that was my reaction, too. But then I remembered that we don't technically know the whole story and shouldn't presume.

He could have been in his very last set and been doing drop sets, or he uses the barbell after he already cranked out flat db presses with 100s in each hand. We don't really know what he was working with before hitting 135. Or before he was girl squating 270 and looking like he was giving birth.

And he shouldn't care, either.

It cuts both ways, too. I have trouble with people passing me on the bike when they are out there for their 30 minute zip and go and I'm out there for what's suppose to be a z2, 5 hour effort. You WANT to show them whose boss but you wind up fuskering up your workout.

Ahhh...so you too are on to Paulo. At first I thought this was a joke, then I got to thinking. I've only been on ST less than a year but I have learned that whenever Paulo chimes in with some sarcastic remark he gets flamed for not offering free advice to non paying athletes. After all, if he posts here he should hand out free advice/tips to make the rest of us faster, even though it is his livelyhood to get paid for such services.

So since everyone thinks his posts are non constructive he has pulled some reverse psychology and actually posted his secret training plan for all to see, knowing that we will all think it is just a humorous post. This guy is his next star athlete and will be out there at the pointy end of the race in his IM debut.

Because I have figured this out I am going to the gym today to get in some awesome bench sets, leg squats, situps Rocky style with the weight on the chest and will be blowing chunks and snot rockets all the while. I am confident that doing this will get me to Kona next week at IMWI. Look for me at T-1, I'll be the one shotgunning the Red Bull.

Actually, if you think about what Paulo says in response to many of the "free advice solicitors," he tells them quite a bit of information. I, too, have fallen victim to Paulo's penchant for being a bit obtuse in his responses, but the one thing I'll give him is that he makes you think. Of course, sometimes I'm sure he's just being an asshole. :)
