Isn't it fair to say your body feels tight(er) after an accumulation of scar tissue. Which is why we do recovery runs/rides/swims etc to lessen that effect and feeling.
I dont think you lose "fitness" after a day or two or few...... I think you feel like a slug after your body is use to movement for so long and then you dont give it movement and then you feel like said slug....
