I had a similar experience - Vasa only between March and late June, 3x a week, workouts in the 2000-2500m range.
When I got back in to the pool, it took me a few sessions to regain the feel for water and get used to breathing/etc, but then I was able to be within maybe 2-3/100 yards slower than my pre-lockdown pace?
BTW I have been doing the 2x vasa/2 swims per week routine for 2 years now.
