Ok, then, I was referring to the group that finds comfort and identity in the subculture and the norms here. Normal human behavior. When the behavior or mores are called into question, the safety of the membership in the group is threatened, and the normal response is to mock and ridicule.

Asking people to consider changing something is far from threatening.
If anyone finds the OPs comments threatening, they have serious insecurity problems.
Take part in a group by all means, but if you turn into an irrationally defensive idiot because of fear of losing some aspect of it, then get the hell out and don't look back. Be yourself and use your brain. If you do nothing else, do that.... or at the very least, try!
