Having a job offer in San Jose (close to SJC airport).

Wondering where you folks say is a good place to live.
It is me with wife and 2 teenage children. Coming from a 4 bedroom suburban single family home now.
Ideally town with safe neighborhood, good schools, as short of a commute as possible (have 15 mins today).
Town with main street area (coffee shops, restaurants, etc) would be nice.
I realize that cost of living (housing) will go up (in NJ now) but what can I expect?

Any locals out there with some good tips?
