I was at the last Branson and the last Kansas as well. Throw in the last summer version of Louisville last year for good measure.

That makes it official... they used the term "half ironman" so it's can't be a Challenge or other brand event. It would be called a "half distance" race unless you want WTC lawyers knocking on your door.

It says the bike route goes through Wildwood, Chesterfield and Ellisville. Start and finish is assumed to be at Lake Creve Coeur. Can anybody familiar with the area say how hilly this bike course will be, and how it might compare to Kansas?

Just threw this into MapMyRide as a rough guess based on the map in that doc. 2024 ft. gain. Looking pretty awesome as an IMWI prep race!

Just finished routing a best guess (there must be some looping being done in the flats near the lake to expand mileage but)....I get 2200 ft of climbing over the 50 miles I figured out.....a bunch of this ride is hilly, period. The ONLY flats will be down by the lake itself.....the climb up to Hwy T will be noteworthy...UNLESS they reverse this then we will all be re-acquainted with Doberman Hill......and I don't remember that in a pleasant fashion......

Wow! Just found this thread! Yeah, that bike will be HILLY!! That whole area in Wildwood... beast mode for sure. Make sure you have the correct rear crank set up. I wonder if they'll have riders go up Hog Hollow just for kicks while they're at it. Fingers crossed that this happens - could be really cool!

Can someone share a link to the MMR routes? Curious to see how bad the hills would really be in comparison to what Kansas was.
Edit: Took some time last night to put in a best guess based on the map provided in the Wildwood doc. Feel free to take a look: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/581465450

Very interesting. Thank you for posting the link. I like the fact that the second memo is in Comic Sans.

Two recent developments inching us closer to an official announcement:
(1) Ironman 70.3 Kansas has disappeared from the listing of 70.3 events. Up until a week or so ago, it was still listed, though the dated was "TBD".
(2) The City of Wildwood's city council apparently approved on Monday night the resolution in support of the event. http://www.cityofwildwood.com/...tem/2294?fileID=3302

My understanding was that StL was a year away. Someone at WTC named Liz Kollar has contacted Tri Clubs and said not to expect a STL 70.3 in 2015. I wish they'd announce something. "A guy's gotta plan his season, ya know".

I love how the employees at WTC/Ironman are described.
I even think Bryan Myrick (RD for Raleigh, Muncie and Chattanooga) had a shirt made up that said "Some WTC guy"
Pink? Maybe. Maybe not. You decide.

I think when your a full time paid employee of a corporation, the expectations change vs. a volunteer race director when you have a consistent "face" to put towards an event. Plus, in this case, the customer is often fairly well connected an informed and you get the impression that there's little attempt at transparency.
It would be like a chemical supplier like Dupont not keeping their customers informed about a plant shutdown, yet in in the WSJ, there's an article where and interview with the VP of operations discusses the closure of several plants. You stop giving the company the benefit of the doubt and treat them with some suspicion.

Awesome! I hope we hear something official soon. I am starting to plan my season. I have friends in St. Charles and in Soulard so I wouldn't have to pay mongo $$ for a hotel! :)
