i just did a 1/2 this weekend. for the transition area the organisers had it put down in a carpark that had been chip sealed in the week prior to the race.

so...apart from running on new gravel stones, the tar was leaking through the surface and stones were actually sticking to everything. feet, shoes, tyres, cut outs on bike frames. everything.

i had a towel to wipe my feet after each part of the race, but i still couldn't get the crap off my feet. i spent time this morning with a trusty needle pulling out gravel from the soles of my feet. a mate who did the race had his rear wheel jam at the start of the ride due to a stone catching in the cut out of his p3.

amazing.
