what did you do and what did you eat?

The thread on IF has me curious what everyone's eating habits are, and also starting to bore with the monotony of lockdown/distancing or whatever.

I'll post what I did yesterday and what I ate based on my vague memory, especially because I snack constantly and will update with the previous day the following day.

Everyone is encouraged to contribute regardless of what you are doing, maybe we'll get good ideas on how/what to eat better or maybe not as good just because sometimes that's good too.


-Coffee, Everything bagel
-4200 yd swim
-strawberry/banana/peanut butter smoothie
-assortment of granola bars
-80 mile bike, 1 fig bar, 1 lara bar, gatorade
-large salad with assortment of veggies, egg, cottage cheese
-2/3's thin crust supreme pizza
-A few craft IPAs and microwave popcorn

Bowl of morning crisp cereal with lots of oat milk
Coffee w cream n sugar
2.5 hr bike (2 bottles lightly mixed gatorade, rice crispys (don't ask), small (100ml I think?) can of coke)
20 min run off bike
grilled cheese, a salad and a bit of pork left over from yesterday, couple dill pickles, couple olives
mid afternoon caesar
black bean burger with fried onion and mushroom, salad, homemade baked sweet potatoe fries
glass of red wine
couple pieces of black liquorice
hand full of pretzels and a beer because saturday

Seriously, I know. I have to intentionally put some of it in the fridge after I make it otherwise I always eat the whole thing.

That’s all you ate in a day? With that training? I think I eat that for breakfast lol. Props to you my man I did a 40K time trial on zwift and a 10k run and ate a while pizza afterwards lol

Yesterday:
breakfast: 2 peanut butter and honey sandwiches. 3 cups of coffee, black.
workout: 6 mile run.
lunch: 2 Tofurkey sausages
dinner: 6 slices of a 14" pizza, 3 or 4 garlic knots.

the fattening is happening.....

Maybe that's why I woke up hungry yesterday? I don't count what I eat at all. Basically just wing it, as with most things...


Yesterday:
-coffee, 2 everything bagels
-2.5 hour trail run on techy single tracks, one bottle of Nuun
-30 minutes of strength exercises
-Large smoothie, leftover pizza
-Medium sized salad with lots of veggies
-Homemade mac and cheese, basically just egg noodles with cheese and butter...
-Couple IPA's and watched the UFC event

Friday:
Breakfast: oats with soymilk and sugar + 2 boiled eggs for protein and OJ

8 hour bikeride with IF0,66 (yes - Corona calls for adventures) - on the ride I drank 1,5 liters for premixed energy drink with 120 gram of carbs, 3 chocolate bars, 2 buns, 1 cookie, 2 small hotdogs, 0,5 liter coke and 1,5 liter of red bull + 250 grams of candy - with 45 minutes left I ate a proteinbar with 25 grams of protein

Right after the ride: 30 grams of protein from high protein yoghurt with a bit of cereal on top

Dinner: 1/2 pizza, 1/2 durum and a large portion of fries.. a bit of coke and 2 beers

Before bed: 30 grams of casein protein

Saturday:
Before breakfast: 4 km of really slow running
9am - Breakfast is the same as friday
11 am - 30 gram of protein from high protein yoghurt
12 am - 1 hour of EASY spinning 0,48 IF
1 pm - 2 sandwich with eggs and cheese + OJ
3 pm - 80 minutes of basic endurance running
4.30 pm - proteinshake for 30 grams of protein
6.30 pm - dinner with rice, vegetables and 200 grams of pork
Before bed: 30 gram of casein protein in a shake

Sunday:
7 am - small bowl of oats with soy milk
8 am - one gel
9 am - running intervals 2-1-2-1-2 k @ threshold - 30 grams of protein in a shake right after last interval and before my cooldown/shake out run
11.30 am - salad with chicken and rice - enough chicken to be sure of the 30 grams of protein
NAP
1 pm - coffee, cake and a few fruits
2 pm - 2,5 hour of easy endurance on the bike with 120 grams of carbs in my bottles and two bananas and some bananabread - ate 20 grams of protein in a bar right after getting of the bike (forgot to bring it on the ride)
5 pm - same dinner as saturday
8 pm - some fruits and 20 gram of protein from high protein yoghurt
10.30 pm - 30 grams of protein from a casein shake

Between all the meals I normally snack nuts, fruit, candy in between..

Now that is a detailed accounting. Way to go! I think I would lose my mind counting everything in that much detail.


For yesterday:
-Breakfast: Bagel/coffee
-Swim 3300 yds, run 3 miles
-Smoothie, couple hard boiled eggs
-Lunch: Leftover Mac and Cheese
-Bike 40 miles
-Dinner: Take out burger and fries from local brewpub to bring to my mom's for mothers day, also grilled some sprouts and other veggies to go with it

It’s actually pretty easy :)

I just try to get 6x25-30 grams of protein a day and then as many healthy carbs as possible. If I see my weight drop too fast or too much = add a bit more fat and carbs to my daily eating ! Or a few more beers - haha !

It’s only the protein - I’m ‘stressed’ about and I started about 2 months ago. Eating the same protein as always, now it’s just split into 6 and not just lunch and dinner.

Sunday
Triple shot coffee with milk + raisin toast
5hr Zwift, easy pace.
Muesli with Greek yoghurt and a scoop of protein powder.
Black coffee - double shot.
Bao buns + meat, tofu, fish and picked vegetables.
2 x rows of dark chocolate.
500mls of milk + scoop of protein powder.

Monday
Triple shot coffee with milk + raisin toast
BJJ training - 30mins
Toast sandwich X2 - tuna, cheese and egg.
Kettlebell circuit ~ 30mins
Smoothie - milk, yoghurt, blueberries, banana
Fish and roasted vegetables.
2 x rows of dark chocolate.
500mls of milk + scoop of protein powder

Tuesday:
Triple shot coffee with milk + raisin toast.
19km run steady pace.
Black coffee double shot. Blueberry muffin.
Salmon and vegetable sandwich, 500ml flavoured milk.
Frittata - tuna and vegetable. (Scheduled, but not yet eaten).
2 x rows of dark chocolate. (As above)
500mls of milk + scoop of protein powder (as above).


I advise my eating patterns to no one.

a) 48oz Banana, spinach, avocado, ginger, lemon, flax seed

b) 48oz Cherry, blueberry, banana, raspberry, açaí, kale, watermelon, cucumber, dragonfruit, fig, red beet, chia

Had 2 lime La Croixs after that.

Then large bowl of oats and blueberries.

Now that's measured, nice! I was waiting for you say it was all mixed into a smoothie.

Inspired by all the others eating pizzas, so that's on the menu tonight, but for yesterday:

-One hour jog and strength
-Bagel/coffee
-Couple granola bars and trail mix
-Less than a cup of the left over mac and cheese
-8 mile steady/easy run
-Large salad
-1/2 loaf of garlic cheese bread

40oz of dark chocolate is a lot. At 170 cal per ounce, that’s 6,800 cal for breakfast.

Pretty impressive. I was really craving chocolate last night and should have had another meal or something and ended up cutting 3lbs or so from yesterday. At 183.0 this morning (72.5in).

I need to get some chocolate..... I really like snickers and Reese’s... and I should get some some ice cream too - I like the energy it provides.

I think if we knew everyone's weight/height/BMI etc., and where they used to be or want to be would shed a lot of light on the opinions and positions of everyone posting guidance or insights in nutritional threads such as the current IF debate. Definitely not a one size fits all.

Yeah - I’m pretty lean right now - 183lbs is a good training weight for me. I normally fluctuate between 178-187lbs depending on phases of my workouts and eating patterns. Overall, I just want to get fast for my next 70.3. Maybe that’s a 183 training weight and a 175-180 race weight. I’ll go lighter if my speed in training takes me there, but I don’t really like the way I look at low 170s.

fyi avoid the snickers, has partially hydrogenated oils (transfat)

reeses ok, but can do better with justin's peanut butter cups
