to Tom Demerly on bar wars

Tom,

I read with great interest your article on bar wars. I then went to the vision tech web site to look at their aero data and to Hed's web site to look at front wheel data. I was absolutely amazed. It seems to good to be true, but if what you say, and if I'm reading the data correctly, a bar like oval concepts will have as much benefit as going from a 32 spoke front wheel to a deep rim or 3 spoke. Is this corrrect?

Thanks

Unfortunately, since I was not able to go to the windtunnel this last week to meet with the windtunnel Gurus, Joh Cobb and Cody Smith, I cannot substantiate these claims with any empiracle data. However, anecdotally I can tell you that I think these integrated bars are substantially faster than seperate round tubing components bolted together. I do think the integrated bars make a significant aerodynamic improvement, about the same as adding race wheels. At this point though, that is little more than a supposition on my part based on my racing experience.
