Jones comes off the bike in first

The "winningest" short course triathlete in the world is now making a statement in the Ironman world ... she just entered the transition with a sizeable lead.

Jones said in the past she would "never, never, ever, ever, ever do an Ironman."

Now she's a marathon run away from winning the Ford Ironman Triathlon World Championship.

It's a long way to go, though ...
