dura ace cranks issues
I recently heard several cases of dura ace cranks (10spd) falling off. On different bikes. Looks like the torque rec. on the dura ace 10 speed are way off...
anyone else saw/heard the same thing? just curious.

It's happened to a couple people I know, but they didn't use torque wrenches, so I don't know if it's related to the recommended torque or not.

Happened to my coach when they first came out. The whole arm came off, still connected to his foot. He thought he'd broken a pedal spindle when he crashed.

I'd really tighten the sucker down.

This design of theirs (Shimano's) is far superior to any other style ever - much better and more reliable in all situations Francois...damn you to hell for even thinking that there may be an issue with this new Shimano system.

I've seen it, never had it happen. The specs are somewhere between 12-15NM.

It's not just DA. At the race I did this morning, I heard a bunch of folks complaining about the FSA crankarms falling off.

It's just about the right time in the product lifecycle for all the hidden faults to start showing up in the latest generation of cranks - I guess this is it.

My Campy crank has never fallen off...oh, and the torque spec pretty simple - make it tight.

Shimano makes good quality components. Campy makes good quality components as well. Get over it.

Well, yeah...

Because one of the design problems with a square taper interface is the near-impossibility of giving accurate torque spec...
