campy vs. shimano - small hand questions
Hey all,

I know the shimano/campy debate is fierce but I am looking at one thing: small hands.

I want to build a bike for the S.O. and she has tiny hands. I know shimano makes a shimy to adjust brake reach but I think shifting is the bigger problem. Its hard to shift the front ring from the 39 to 52 if you have small hands.

Anyone care to comment on the ease of shifting for small hands between campy and shimano? I also hear the 10 speed shimano is easier to shift than the 9 speeds - comments?

Thanks,

Dave

first and foremost you should be thinking of getting an adjusted size seat. becase small hands only means one thing if you get my drift.

I have one of each that I ride regularly, DA-10 and Campy Chorus. The throw on the DA lever is slightly less but the horn itself is much larger and the reach from the bar is 1cm longer than Campy.

Shimano makes a short-reach STI set called the st700 Lady, I believe. Not sure it's available aftermarket, or if it's just OEM. I believe quality is either 105 or Ultegra level.
