9-speed don't work with 10-speed, but they can be converted. Unfortunately, the conversion parts are more difficult to find than actual 10-speed shifters.

I'd recommend contacting a shop in the United States and having them order you some 10-speed shifters (Nytro, Colorado Cyclist, or any shop can order them from QBP)
