Zuckerberg triathlon training

Unfortunately, after buying a road bike, he fell over while trying to unclip and broke his arm!

Glad to see him giving this a go, though!

Glad he understands that instead of just running longer, he can break it up and do triathlon. Seems like a rather level-headed decision. Can't wait to see who he selects as a coach. Mark are you lurking on here?

....I did not read the entire thing, but he said his fastest mile so far this year is 5:53. That probably wins him Silicon Valley CEO mile champion status.

I was surprised at how quick he could knock out a mile. And that he does some weekend 20mi runs.

I am not that surprised. He is a young and relatively fit guy to start off.

Woah - that's actually a VERY good mile time for someone who isn't a serious runner/triathlete. I don't recall hearing of him participating in racing on a regular basis, but if he's putting in 20 milers from time to time, sounds legit.

You can ride with him on Zwift - he signed up soon after his crash and has been on a few times. I had to do a double take the first time I saw him on there.

I'm a little surprised that he would ride. Given his net worth and his value to Facebook, I would think the board of directors would not be excited to have his physical safety left to the whims of drivers in this area. We've had numerous fatalities over the recent years in palo alto. Then again, I see Sergey Brin tooling around on his bakfiet, so...

Old news? This happened a couple of months ago didn't it?

Look. http://money.cnn.com/...-complete/index.html

He ran 385 miles so far this year. Awww that's adorable. :) That's about 9 weeks of running or so. Less for some of you monsters here.

True...but on the flip side he makes more in 9 weeks at facebook than most of us make in 9 years if not 9 lifetimes....

This is a beyond silly comment. The guy is a running a company with market cap north of $300M. He is a public figure whose time is basically needed by everyone. He's also a young father (and yes, he has more financial resources than most young dads)....but hey, isn't this guy like the "ultimate age grouper"....sub 6 min miler, company CEO of of the largest companies globally, dad and training for triathlon. I know haters are gonna hate, but I tip my hat to him. Also I think it is awesome for the CEO to set an example and encourage others to get running. You don't have that at most companies.

disclaimer: I probably have too much bias since I "kind of work for him" since I co lead the high performance computing group at the Open Compute Project which Zuckerberg and team facebook started and continue to drive (I am not a fb employee though) as a key part of their data center infrastructure strategy.

I would agree that $334 billion is north of $300m! ;)

It is hilly. 800-1000 feet. But still the time suggests more work to do on endurance based off a 5:53 mile.

Is he yet to steal his friends' training plan then present it to the public as his brilliant idea or has that already happened?

I found this interesting: on his facebook page, Mark posted a photo of him running. You can see one of the full marathon runners from the back, with bib 80296. The guy wearing it seems like a male, mid 40's I assume. Yet the bib belongs to a 20 year old woman...

5th largest company in the world after FB announced their earnings for their quarter this week. The exclusive club of 5 is:

  • Exxon Mobil (XOM): 366B
  • Alphabet (GOOG): 539B
  • Facebook (FB): 359B
  • Apple (AAPL): 569B
  • Microsoft (MSFT): 446B

How many of these CEO's announcing earnings this week were at the start line of a half marathon this week, is 32 years old and has a young family.
