Zipp VukaAero bar thread type of collet and collet screw
Quote | Reply
Hi everybody,

I just bought a bike with pre mounted Zipp VukaAero bars. For cutting the bars to the right length I demounted them. The problem is that one of the collet threads and the corresponding screw is not working great (need quite a lot of force to get it in and out) and I would like to cut it again but I can't figure out which thread type it is. M10 - 1,25? Can anybody help me out with this information? I tried to contact Zipp through the website but didn't get any response till now. Seems that their support is all the time offline.

I think M10 is right.
Are you going to try and retap the hole?

Lens,
The thread is M10x1, sorry, our live webchat guy is on vacation this week, so our phone service guys are taking up the slack with the web-based stuff, but are not handling it live...but they can be called at 800-472-3972 and are all really knowledgeable, and seems that they are generally handling the webbased requests in a day depending on volume, but sorry for the delay.

Is it that the threads are not interfacing properly, or that the collet is sticking in the bar? The since the collet is compression based, it needs to be knocked out by tapping on the unthreaded bolt...Also, the draw-bolt threads should be greased at assembly and there should be a teflon washer between the draw-bolt head and the carbon basebar. please feel free to PM me if you have further questions, or call our CS team and somebody will help you figure out what we need to do.

Regards
Josh
