Zipp 808/1080 and HED C2 rim width?
Zipp lists their 808/1080 rims as more than 23mm in aero rim width, the 1080's being listed as over 28mm.

Is this just the aero section, or is this similar to the HED C2 rim, where the actual rim, where the tire meets the rim, is wider, spreading the tire out to improve aerodynamics and rolling resistance.

I've seen posts by Demerly saying Zipp also has the wider rims, but is it the same concept as the C2 rim extrusion?

The C2 is 23 mm on the aluminum rim and they recommend using a 23mm tire. Zipp recommends 21 for the best aerodynamics. Both brands will be quite a bit wider than 23 mm as you move away from the braking surface.

I've read that the new 2009 Zipps are wider at the rim than the previous years models, but I think it's on the order of 22mm vs 19mm. So, it's in the same ballpark as the C2s now, but 28mm has to be referring to the fatter part of the bulge section well below the rim.

Thanks!

So the Zipps are not as wide or wider than the C2 HEDs. That's what I wanted to know.
