baliman, did you end up cutting the clamp? I asked my LBS to see if they can get that part for me, but if your cut half is still usable, I'd like to purchase it from you.

For your workaround, I assume the screw in blue fits the Sonic's hole?

Candice--if XLAB's engineers can fabricate an improved clamp, I'll test it :)

Candice, what's the best alternative to this if you have an Adamo saddle (without transition hook). Thx

I see a general constructional problem with the rod-system. When the screw in yellow is tightened, the rod will be torn upwardly. Because of this, the rod will excite a force on the carbon which tends to tear apart the carbon bridge in red. Using a saddle clamp as the one encircled in blue could maybe avoid this problem in that its downwardly protruding legs press the two parts of the carbon rails together.

Depending on your saddle position your alternatives would either a Delta 200 or Delta 400. The Delta 200 has a nylon cross mount so if you are further forward it may hit the back of the post. The Delta 400 has an alloy arm mount which can get around the post if you are further forward.

Thank you Candice. The 400 is latest/newest? And works with the Adamo prologue, depending on seat post location?

Ooops ... I never got around to cutting the clamp. I promise that if/when I cut it, I will give away the other half.

The Delta 400 is one of our newest carriers. The newest is the Delta 425 which started shipping a couple weeks ago. The 425 is specific to Adamo models w/ hooks or the Adamo Attack style saddles.

For the Prologue saddle, the Delta 400 is the best. Over the 200, the Delta 400 will fit more setups and is very adjustable: both cage & height adjustments and 2 carrier angle positions. The Delta 200 has one set position.

FWIW, I've got a Delta 200 on my Adamo Breakaway, and it's working just fine.

My LBS was trying to submit a warranty claim from that cracked seatpost but Cervelo won't replace it. Cervelo mentioned that this was a known issue using the Delta Sonic and it will likely happen again.

Sorry to hear that. Cervelo was honoring replacement seatposts initially. Unfortunately, from what we have seen this crack has only happened on Cervelo seatposts. We have seen the Delta Sonic on many other bike brands/models, Scott Plasma, BH Aerolight, Kestrel...the list goes on, and we have never heard one complaint from those brands.

Can your LBS contact us so that we may look into Cervelo not honoring warranty seatposts for this? I have some internal contacts there, but would be good to find out who is saying this.

I purchased the 400 series in response to the post that stated it was the right one for the Prologue. I'm skeptical. It's a tight fit at the top, even tilted all the way rearward. The multi strike repair kit was a definite no-go, it's under the seat and doesn't leave enough room to stock w goods.

Is the 425 the right one for the Prologue? Some other model?

I am using the 425 on the Prologue saddle and it works great. I like how many different configurations it offers. There is enough adjustment room to have the bottle tight against the seat, or back about 3/4 of an inch. I'm using the older x-strike for holding co2 cartridges, haven't tried the multi-strike yet.

Interesting. The pictures we have online of the Delta 400 are of the Podium which is very similar to the Prologue. Let me mock it up tomorrow with the Prologue model sans Multi-strike and with Multi-Strike and let you know what I find out. I will also try the Prologue with the Delta 425.

With the notion the Podium and Prologue being similar, I would have safely assumed they would both fit the Delta 400. Stay tuned...should have something for you tomorrow morning or late afternoon.

Delta 400 + multi-strike on my wife's Cervelo with Prologue saddle:

The setup is sleek and compact.

Thanks for the pics. Very helpful.

I played around with the setup today, it's just so much lower than I feel like it should be once I get it positioned so that I can load the x- strike. I realize adding the x-strike changes the angle a little, but it's much lower than pics on the xlab site that show the position in comparison to the saddle.

I'm anxious to hear what Candice posts after testing the 400 vs 425.

By lower, are you saying you feel it's not very stable?

No, it appears very stable. My reference to "low" was in relation to the distance, in height, it is from the top of the saddle. Some of this could be expectation as I have used the XLab Turbo Wing in the past (on my old bike). The bottle holders were "higher", sitting above the top of the seat and directly behind my arse.

When I installed my new Delta 400, it would only work at an angle where the cage, and bottle, rested much lower than the top of the seat. Adding the Multi Strike Repair Holder slightly increased the issue. The fact that it is so low makes me think it's much less aero, and kind of hard to reach. Even in the XLab pictures used to illustrate the Delta 400, you can see that the top hook of the bottle holder is slightly higher, or taller, than the top of the seat.

The cause? The top bolt of the Delta 400 is hitting a brace on the back of the saddle (ISM Prologue), negating the ability to move up any further or tilt "in" using the nicely engineered angle adjustment.

I can go back to the Turbo Wing, but I really wanted a single bottle option on my new bike.

Benfoolery,

To correct the top nut contacting the saddle, I was able to flip the centre bracket around to create more space at the top.

The centre bracket is thicker on one end, I don't know why they show the thick end at the top by default, it makes more sense to me if it is at the bottom.

Sorry for the delay in my reply! Been a very busy day today.

Here is a comparison between the normal mounting (same hole setup as the Podium on our website, but with the Prologue) and then the last photo which is of the center bar flipped so the thicker part is at the bottom which is completely ok to do. The top bolt is very close to the underneath of the saddle, almost hitting for both pictures.

Adding the Multi-Strike will bring the cage away from the saddle more & down slightly. I can get a picture of the Multi-Strike installed tomorrow if you would like, but I had to re-adjust the mount this afternoon and was only able to capture these 2 today :/

Flipping the bracket made for significant improvement.

Thanks for the note from Brad79 and Candice for working so diligently to test and provide additional photos and feedback.

Hi Candice,

Possible for you to simulate this saddle/seatpost clamp position with the prologue and cervelo seatpost with the Delta 400? I am afraid it would not fit due to a too forward position. Please advise.

Thanks in advance
