Personally I like:

Yes, the fact that there are cars there in the first place...that certainly is cycling.

I didn't see it, only read the online account. My first inclination is to say "That's racing", provided the cars didn't intentionally motorpace Mattan back into position. Kind of like when riders would time their breaks around train schedules to catch out the peloton.

The definition of racing is taking what you have and trying to figure out a way to win with it. If you have cars on the course...

I would like to see it though.
