What France time is the tour on?
I have been watching the tour each morning on TV. I presume this is live, because when I check the TDF website, it is keeping pace with what is on the TV.

So, this makes me think the race is going on late afternoon in France?

How can this be? Has it always been an afternoon event, or is this changed because a US company is the sponsor/televisor?

What Francois said. The start time varies every day, depending on how long they think it will take. They want every stage to end between 5:00 and 5:30 PM. Every day in the newspaper, there is a schedule of times that shows for each town the stage passes through, the times that the caravan, the expected first riders, the peleton and the end of the whole "parade" all pass through.

And, the entire stage is shown live on French TV. Plus, they have something similar to the post-game show called the Velo Club where they interview riders and others and fans. Jaja is a staple on this show.

woodenski,

The time difference between EDT and France is 5 hours. For other U.S. time zones you will have to do the math. Good luck.
