As a coach I don't ever have athletes use HR to guide racing or training. I go by power/pace, RPE, or a combination of those two. I use HR for analysis afterward.

If you would have done the race in an era without technology then you would have had no clue how high your HR was. You would have been feeling good and kept the power up high to smash a faster race. Take this experience and learn for the next one.

When I was younger, I could keep my heart rate at 188 bpm during six hour bike rides.
When I was younger I liked colouring in and playing on the swings :)
