gotta question for ya... do your parents "get" your new sport?

My parents basically "supported" my endeavours in the sense of unconditional love (they didnt get it but were behind whatever i'd try... as they roll their eyes)... then they went to Hawaii and saw the IM last year.... they were in awe and suddenly a whole new appreciation for what i do came around... they still think were a bunch of navel gazing over analyzing type "A+" wacks... but they understand and appreciate the effort... on that note... i got my mom a nice bike this year and now she is logging 60-100 miles a week on it... in addition to the 6-10K a week in the pool she already did and the 10-15 miles of walking. We're working towards Danskin for her... got her a nice Polar for Christmas because all she ever asks me is "How do i get faster?!" So we'll start HR training with her .... I LOVE MY MOM!!!! ...but she denys that she is becoming one of us. ;-)

havent opened gifts yet so dont know what awaits.

Here is what I received that's tri-related:

The stand is about as burly as I have seen, Pretty cool.

Here it is complete with my dad's bike. Makes it much more interesting.

He'll have to leave this world before I get that ;-)

That and outdoorsy clothing and some books. Merry Christmas!

Cool stand. I need one of those. And your dad's bike is awesome (except for the saddle...:)

My sport related gifts were: A bike chain bottle opener, a new timex, a TdF book, and various other gadgets (headlamps, bottle opener, etc etc). And a fiance, which was pretty cool too.

Your dad has the bike I want. I picked it up in the store--it weighs 1 pound at most!

Still haven't seen one that lets youhave your back by yourself. I made my own, but a "real" one would be nice and probably be a little easier to use.

Merry Christmas all. Scored a sweet Thule bike box-so I guess that's a big yes to those outer island training sessions. Runners id bracelet. Speedo skin suit-maybe I can break 2:00 per 100 now ;). The best gift of all-bike shirt with every logo imaginable on it-not one product I use, including all the tri clubs on the island EXCEPT the one I belong to also, it's so bright the guys in the space station can see it when it's hanging in my closet. The great thing is- I will wear it and it makes me smile everytime I look at it.

Ugh, I'm totally jealous of Brent and his new toy. I received about $1K in gift certs to REI and EMS and another $200 in spa certificates. I gave myself a digital SLR, which will come handy for upcoming trip to Morocco.

>>gotta question for ya... do your parents "get" your new sport?<<

Well, not a new sport, but yeah, they do. They've been to 7 IM races and know most of my far-flung friends.

Gifts opened this morning included running gear (cold weather shirts/tights), and a couple of books. My present to myself was a video iPod.

Didn't need anything. I've got a great gal and a great life and great friends...

I did get a great gift from my team as well as having a great party with some of them on Friday. We're doing our biggest workout of the year (100X100, 100 miles, 10 miles) this coming Friday, and it looks like unprecedented participation. That's a gift that beats anything.

I have not opened my gifts yet. I was out of town, but there is a QR Kilo under the tree, along with a fluid trainer. That are not wrapped. I will get back later to post the rest.

I just got back from a bussiness trip. Waiting for the wife to return from her parents house.

Campy is lovely indeed. I finally got to ride the Kuota yesterday for 2 hours. It does not fit me too well but if it did I can't imagine what more I could want in a road bike (OK, the saddle and wheels could be upgraded). Its mostly Record (even a compact carbon crank) and its amazing, especially after all the time I spent on Ultegra and 105 ... I'm sold on carbon and Campy now. However financial realities may keep my dream from being realized for a while.
