Wetsuit store NY/full sleeve suits
Hi all, I'm trying to find a good wetsuit store in the NY area where I can actually put something on. Have not had great luck with on-line ordering with Roka, and I feel badly about continually having to return stuff. Anyone have any suggestions?

Incidentally, like a lot of folks, I've got problems finding a full sleeved that doesn't restrict my shoulders. I've been trying the Maverick models, but can't say that the arms up technology isn't still somewhat constrictive. Is anyone using anything that fits great? Thanks in advance.

What size suit would you be? There’s obviously a massive network of triathletes here in NYC. My recommendation would be to source a few different suits to test out from friends/clubs/Facebook groups. I’m sure there are plenty of people willing to help out. If you’re anywhere near 5’11 and 160 pounds, I’ve got a few you can try.

To the other point about shoulder restriction, have you given Mako a try? I’ve used everything and had similar shoulder complaints. Have a Mako a go and fell in love the first stroke.

Thanks for your reply. Funny enough…I’m also 5’11 and about 165lbs. I’m built a little funny though with a long torso and short legs (30 inch inseam) so I usually have to size up for my shirts with respect to length.

I have an Xterra vengeance large sleeveless that I’ll use, but I was freezing with it during IM Hamburg, so I really need to find a sleeved option. I’ve tried M and M~L ROKA options which were both too constrictive. They’re currently sold out on the large sizes for their Maverick options except for the MX version which I don’t really want to purchase. Was looking at the Orca float, but I can’t return it easily online if it doesn’t fit. Haven’t tried the Mako, but will take a look. Which model do you like?

That’s very generous of you to offer trying these out, but you haven’t met me and I’d feel overly presumptuous trying out your stuff. Any other brand recommendations? Thanks very much!

I did a pool test on a number of suits last year when I was trying to find something more accommodating to my shoulder and my stroke. I'll just copy and paste my notes from that test in a private message for you and you can see exactly what I thought of each. Hope that helps.

^^^^^This! Andre and Aquaman are the best in the business. Also, be sure to pay particular attention to putting it on and seating it right; that makes a HUGE difference.
