Anyone experience a complete lack of resistance when first using their kickr? It is like something is not engaged. The belt/flywheel doesn’t rotate. It’s as if I’m pedaling in reverse. It will then sometimes engage after a half revolution. Sometimes I sit there for a minute… just spinning circles - absolutely no resistance. Then it’ll just engage. And all is fine as long as I don’t completely stop. It’s the 2017 model. I contacted wahoo but they said it sounds software related. But my firmware is up to date. Nothing else is connected. I use perfpro and an ant+ stick. But this is before even starting any software. You can grab the pedals and know if it’ll work by whether rotation starts the belt turning. I disconnected everything and tried simply running with the app - same experience. I sent wahoo a fit file - and they agreed that the erg mode power profile during a workout looks great. They basically said we can’t offer you any parts for a 2017 model anyway, so all the best. Seems like something physical is not lining up anymore - this thing has been used a lot - probably 30,000 miles. Anyone have a similar experience and any recommendations on whether there is something fixable. Am I on the verge of completely wearing out the connection between the hub and ??? I have no idea on the inner workings of a wheel/direct drive trainer :)

If the belt doesn't move, it's a problem with your freehub. Probably a stuck pawl. You need to pull your freehub out, clean and re-grease. Here's how to take it out -

Thanks a million! That solved it. Quite easy to service and nothing was broken. Those pawls were simply not moving at all. Cleaned it all up and surprisingly the springs were just fine and the pawls popped right back up... everything looks brand new to my untrained eye. Immediately performed like the KICKR of the past. I've never ridden a wheel so long that I ever had to service the freehub. Thanks again!
de nada, glad to help
