Here's a nice what if exercise. If you could design the perfect IM course what would it be? Imagine that the transition area instantly took you to whatever venue you want the next portion to be. For example IMH swim, IMA bike, IMC run. Include why you would use each leg. I think we will get some very different answers. Feel free to include things that are not currently used as an IM course. For instance I would use Michigans Kewenaw Penisula in the middle of Sept (fall color+temps) for a bike course.

Ok, let's say

Alcatraz Swim...a classic. Never did it but current, cold, sharks, what more do you need?

Lanzarote Bike...wow! See my race report to know why... I would also think of Roth course because of the crowd or a classic climb like Alp d'huez or Mont Ventoux.

Bike: IMC beautiful giant loop, two grand climbs 14 mile downhill to recover for run
