Used Zipp 909s - What are they worth?
A friend of mine is getting out of the 650c realm and has a pair of Zipp 909s available he will sell me. I believe they are about three years old and have been used in around four Ironmans, one or two half IMs, and a few Olympic distance races.

He bought them used from someone who put them together for an IM and that was it.

Anyone care to opine on what they should be worth? I don't want to lowball him, but I don't want to overpay, either.

For wheels that old and that used, probably $600-$800. Anymore is too much. If he'll go lower, go for it.

Are you saying these wheels have less than 1000 miles on them ? They are barely broken in. Go for them. Age of race wheels is irrelevent assuming they were only used for racing.

Zipp discs are like gold on eBay, so the wheels are worth quite a bit. Probably $1100-$1200 for the pair ($700-$800 disc, $300-$400 front).

Lil correction.

If 700c, yes.

However, 650c 909s generally will run around $650-$850 if 2003 or newer.

If anybody wants 700c 2003 909s with Conti Comp (112 miles), I'll be selling my set after IMMoo this weekend. (Shimano/tubular)

He bought them used to begin with, so I'd be the third owner. I think he paid US$900 for them in late 2002 or early 2003.

See Diesel's post. Sounds like I don't know what I'm talking about. Maybe my next TT bike will be 650c so I can get some cheap wheels.
